"I can see the dogs are making tremendous progress and us humans too.

Thanks Donna. It is so exciting to see how far the dogs are coming. (The dogs successfully approached and calmly interacted with a male stranger.)
Wow that is so wonderful. YOU ARE AN AMAZING trainer!!!!"

"I started working with Donna shortly after I rescued my Blue Tick coon hound cross several years ago. The lessons we learned from her then went a long way towards creating a calmer, more obedient dog who was a pleasure to live with instead of a constant frustration. Now that my dog is eight and we are in a new living situation, I contacted Donna again as I wanted further Jenny’s training and work on her reactivity around other dogs especially.

The difference I see in my dog’s behaviour in the short time we’ve been working together has been very rewarding, and extremely encouraging. Donna’s positive training methods and deep understanding of dog behaviour quickly resulted in many small successes which have led to big changes in my dog’s performance and temperament in stressful situations.

Jenny quickly caught on to the games Donna uses as lessons, and is always eager to learn more ways to earn treats. I haven’t been offered any treats yet, but I’m sure Donna is using her positive training skills on me as well, as I know that I am a better owner and trainer myself after working with her. Her easy-going style and humour certainly make each lesson a pleasure instead of a chore for both owners and dogs.

I would not hesitate to recommend Donna Hill to others who want expert guidance and simple, step-by-step ways of overcoming what seem like unbreakable bad habits or behaviours in their dogs."

"Before moving to Vancouver Island, I was a volunteer of 27 years at my local shelter. I learned a lot about dogs and their behavior during that time, well so I thought.

I currently have 4 dogs and have done the “usual” training with them. Basic obedience classes with many different companies and trainers throughout the years. While it was a necessity for my dogs to learn the basic commands, they had some behavioral issues which needed to be addressed. Good mental health is essential to their longevity so it was important to me to find a trainer who could assist. I found Donna Hill.

We worked together to address each dog’s needs and in the first week alone I saw a huge improvement in their behaviour. Each week’s tasks Donna gave me as homework was part of a bigger picture in understanding how dogs think. She showed me how to move them through particular tasks to accomplish the wanted behavior.

For each step Donna explained how and why were were doing it in terms I understood, as well as how the dog’s mind works. We are now at week 6 and I feel extremely confident I have the knowledge needed to help them, and any other dogs I encounter, have a stress free, trusting and comfortable life.

Thanks Donna, you made a world of difference in their lives – and mine! I would highly recommend Donna to anyone who is as dedicated as I am to enriching the lives of their dogs."

Donna really took the time to understand the goals I have with my dog, the nature of his breed (viszla), his work and really took the time to clearly outline what I needed to do to accomplish the short term goals I had in mind. She connected on a personal level both with myself and my dog and the training clicked almost instantly. She provided me with a detailed write-up listing homework and the steps I needed to take. Within 3 weeks there were noticeable changes, and there was no looking back! Donna rocks! I wholeheartedly recommend her especially with working breed dogs who may be a little too much "dog" for the average trainer. Thanks Donna.

"Our dog had never been properly socialized. I needed help in training her due my having health issues. The beginning of my journey of truly learning about dogs and their behavior began when Donna suggested the training could be done on Skype. I was a bit skeptical about training this way but Donna was so confident we could do it and she made me feel so comfortable that I decided to go ahead.
After my first lesson I found it really did work, all because of Donna. I had the benefit of valuable information and dog behavior. She was very patient with me and my dog. Because of her, I soon became totally engaged with the approach and saw stunning results!
I heartily recommend Donna to any senior and to any person needing help with dog training."

"Hi Donna,
I'm really looking forward to my next online classes with you.  I am thrilled with the online lessons you give. My 3 girls have come on wonderfully well in the last few weeks thanks to your help. Your one to one online lessons have been so so good for me as I'm am newish to clicker training but not to dogs as a whole. As I cannot get to any classes in my local area online classes are really wonderful for me. Your a great tutor and deal my questions so clearly you explain well.
Thank you for your help with my 3 girls."

"I really enjoyed the Rally O "class".  It was great to be able to work in my own den with no outside distractions of other dogs and handlers.  The one-on-one training was very beneficial and I was surprised at how well using a webcam worked.  I was able to see your demonstrations almost as if I were right there in the room with you.  I loved the fact that there was no pressure to get through an exercise and we could work at our own pace.   I'm sure we will be signing up for another course in the future.  Thanks for all of your help!!"

"Donna is very knowledgeable and skillful about clicker training with dogs and treibball. Her teaching skills are excellent and breaks the teaching into small manageable steps. She has special tricks and techniques that help your dog progress quickly. Donna works at a pace that suits you and your dog and teaches you to have patience. Her teaching skills are shared with you as you learn to train your dog. Her well-trained dogs are used as demonstrations how you need to present to your dog.

Using Skype is a great way to learn Treibball. You are in the comfort of your own home,  no distractions of other animals, taught one on one, instant feedback, demonstrations of how to and very reasonably priced work. I would highly recommend her as a teacher, very experienced clicker trainer and treibball expert."

"Donna is an excellent trainer that knows how to teach her clients and their dogs to be successful.  She knows how to put together all the skills necessary to achieve a complex, chained behavior so that it seems easy.  I highly recommend her webcam training for everyone . . . beginners through advanced.

I took the Treiball Course with my one-year old Standard Poodle, Cindy Lou, because I wanted to do something new and fun.   Donna taught us several simple skills that built on each other so that when we put it all together we were successful.   And, best of all, I found it totally motivating and fun . . . and so did Cindy Lou!

I loved having Donna observe Cindy Lou and me train together by webcam in my home.  She was able to make suggestions and give me quick and easy tips that got immediate results.   It was perfect for Cindy Lou because she had no distractions during our sessions.  The process if very effective and efficient.

As a professional trainer, I especially find it extremely helpful to have a trainer with Donna’s ability.  I feel very fortunate to have found her and I’m looking forward to our next group of lessons together!"

Donna, I just want to take this opportunity to extend to you my heartfelt thanks for all that you have done for me and Buffy over the past six weeks. Your guidance, insights, suggestions, and encouraging words were all very much appreciated. The wealth of information that you shared in the lectures and the individual guidance for the way that it applied to each of us was invaluable.

Taking this course has shown me some areas where my training is weak, my handling inconsistent, and places where I've let my criteria slip. It revealed some holes in Buffy's training and areas where she needs some refreshers and even some reteaching of behaviors. My goal is to go back and rework all of the elements in each of the lectures at a more leisurely pace so that I can help Buffy achieve better stimulus control and low latency with each of her behaviors. Being able to try each of the concepts through our homework assignments gave me the opportunity to gain a better understanding with how to teach and work with all of the different methods. Having the lectures along with my homework thread and your comments and helpful hints to refer to as we rework through these different things will be very beneficial.

The past six weeks have been wonderful and I am grateful for the opportunity to have taken this class with you as a Gold student. Buffy and I have had so much fun together! With the wealth of knowledge that you so willingly shared and your expertise as a teacher I feel that we are in a better position to work toward reaching our full potential as a team. Buffy is an extraordinary partner in every way imaginable and I look forward to where our journey together takes us as we continue learning and growing as a team.

"Hi Donna, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed the presentation. I liked the interactive activities. As a participant, it really does make you feel more involved when there are activities vs. just listening. And you have inspired me to get videotaping! We just got our new dog, so there will be lots to watch. Thanks again."

"Just for some feedback from a "pet owner/dog enthusiast" person (not a trainer) that attended the seminar...everyone I have told about the awesome, informative experience...they have all wished they had gone too or they have inquired if there would be more seminars like that one. I think all dog owners should have some experience in "observing dogs'. I will even take it one step further as I am a highschool teacher...I think we should be educating our children as well. They are usually the ones getting all up in a dogs personal space and imagine if they knew what to look for or how to know when to approach a dog and when to give distance. Education is key! Everyone I know that has a dog...loves their dog...and wants the best for their dog. If understanding how they communicate can help that bond...who wouldn't want to take part in this kind of a seminar. I think I could fill a room right now with the same amount of people that were at the seminar last sunday for another beginners course on Dog Speak 101. Just food for thought and thanks again for such a great seminar!"

"Dog Speak 101 is an informative, interactive and entertaining examination of the fascinating world of dog body language.  The presentation is ideal for the enthusiastic dog owner or pet care professional who is looking to learn about how dogs communicate with each other as well as with people.  The presenters also show how some common misconceptions humans have about dogs and their language can hamper training and behaviour modification.  Dog Speak combines photos, videos, group activities and live dog observation for every type of learner and lots of chances for audience participation.  You'll wish it was longer!"

"I found Donna's light-switch video (first one, I believe, with the switch mounted on a board) to be a life-altering experience, and gave me a true ah-ha! moment. It all made
sense after watching it. (Plus a saw a zillion things I was doing wrong.)"

"Hey Donna I wanted to tell you that I was looking for a "retrieving" video for a future gun dog that I just started training. I actually stumbled on one you had done, on you-tube. It was very helpful for my clients to see it visually as I explained it verbally. Just wanted to say you did a really good job with it."

"Hi Donna -Your Rally-O videos were very helpful in preparing for our very first trial this past weekend where my dog earned her Novice A title. Three qualifying runs and first place ribbons in each one. Our third run even earned us a perfect 200 score. Thanks! :-)"

"I recently joined a FB dog group "Modern Dog Training and Behaviour Advice". Almost the first posting I read referenced and recommended your video on LAT. That prompted me to re-watch the video. And watching the video prompted me to let you know how much I love your training videos. They are so clear, matter-of-fact, and useful. Bravo!"

"First of all thank you for your great work you are doing to help dogs and people. I love to read your blog and watch your videos!

I myself are a retired teacher and work as a dog trainer for some years now. I will hold a workshop in 2 weeks in Switzerland about training diabetic dogs. Then and later this year here in Germany I would like to show 2 of your videos from Youtube and hope to get your permission. They are Anaphylactic Allergy Alert Dogs part 1 and part 2."

"Donna, I really enjoy your videos. Your explanations are so clear and you describe exactly what happens, rather than just what's supposed to happen. The videos with two dogs give me inspiration for dealing with my own momma dog and puppy. Thank you!'

"Thank you so much for posting all these videos. I've trained a few autism service dogs, but I'd never taken on anything as fine-tuned as this. After a friend's grandson was paralyzed in a car accident, I agreed to train and donate a dog for them. Your videos have been an absolute inspiration to us. Thanks again for all you do!"

"Hello Donna, just wanted to thank you again for sharing your knowledge/experience. I am training my 1st Mobility Assistance Service Dog, "Image", and quite honestly could not have done it w/out you! I have always, ( in the past) used a nylon choke collar and traditional "correction" training. I have always had a very strong bond w my dogs and have trained in many areas in the past, for personal use, not competition.. I have done herding, and almost any help you could think of around the ranch, as well as SAR...many years ago. I have always praised my guys tons and I feel confident saying they LOVED to work/train. I use positive methods now as I am always open to learn and do better by my "kids." Image is my 1st totally +R dog and also my 1st Service Dog. I have hit a few blocks... and wanted to revert several times as Image is in her "teenage" stage....! I did not! I persevered, trusted my instincts and worked through, as the problems were my skills, lol, and certainly not hers! It has been one interesting journey! Seems you can teach an old human new tricks...  Thank you again for being there..always available on youtube."

Once Upon a Time I was disabled and did not think I could train my own dog. I thought I would have to go to a program to get a service dog. They didn't train how I thought a dog should be trained which was with a clicker. Or I couldn't find how they trained the dog. Or they didn't train for my disability. But then I found Donna Hill's Videos and that all changed. It clicked in me that I could train my own service dog. That I could train how all the cool people train. I now have a wonderful service dog named Nova thanks to Donna's inspiring videos.
